Where do I start....?

Hello world of the internet!!!

Its funny to think that this little piece of me is open for the whole world to see...baring in mind I will probably only get about 10 people who actually read this (if I'm lucky) but hey its 10 people I don't know right?!?! :)

I was thinking about what I want this blog to be. Do I want it to be about Beauty? Fashion? Travel? The world is so connected these days that you can say anything you like and no matter what it will be there your oppinion...your voice....like I named this blog its a little space for my big voice so I decided this is going to be a mess! Like my life this is going to be all over the place from talking about my terrible love life to talking about my favourite lipstick. I am not going to restrict myself to one simple thing and catarogise myself why would anyone want to do that!?!?!

So my first order of messy business is my heritage. I don't know if anyone bothered to read the about me section of this practically bare and new blog but at the end I state that my origins are pretty messy :p. I am half Filipino and half Scottish however I was born in Australia. I am very proud of who I am and where I come from.

However my Filipino heritage has gone up against some scrutiny in the last few weeks. One man regardless of the fact that I don't know him from a bar of soap has been claimed practically a monster of the Filipino nation and that is its new President Rodrigo Duterte.

He has only recently taken over the presidency after an easy win. His platform was basically his strong statement that he would rid the Philippines forever of corruption. He had been the mayor of Davao City which is one of a low crime rate and said he could do the same thing with the entire country. Pretty strong statement huh? In my mind he might as well be playing god.

Now first thing is first, he has great passion and love for his country. That much is clear he has so much love but the way he is going about this is not the best. Don't get me wrong I don't live in the Philippines...I get to go home to my nice apartment in Perth and feel safe I don't have to deal with the same issues that my Filipino family and friends go thru. However I feel like their lives are not in even more danger because of the way things are being handled now that it will get out of control. People are being shot left right and center for drug use with no trial or investigation its all shoot and ask questions never! Not to mention the guy basically compared himself to HITLER! of all people?!?! Not only that but he referred to the President of the US as the bastard some of a hoare!

The guy literally has no filter and not only is it looking bad on him but also the entire country. I am a bartender at night for extra money so people always try and guess my ethnicity. Now when I say I'm half Filipino people ask me questions like "So that new President of yours Duterte...do you like him? Sounds like a complete nut job if you ask me." Or "Is he really letting civilians kill people? I heard he is basically telling them he will buy them guns".

I know our society isn't perfect nor do I ever think it will be however from my observations Duterte is trying to build a Utopia in his country and going about it too quickly and in the wrong way. The Philippines alone has a population of over 93 million people and increasing! What does he plan to do? Kill all the wrong doers? He was right in some ways about the corruption in the Government and people being paid off and dismissing them embarrassingly but death with no trial in this day and age is barbaric and the kills from what he has stated are not going to be ending any time soon.

For me I am slightly ashamed to say where I come from. People in this day and age because they are so connected know a hell of a lot more then they did 10 years go, thanks to face book, twitter and youtube people are speaking out. So this for me is my way of yelling to the internet world, I love the countries I come from. I will forever love them but that does not mean I am proud of some things that are being done. Duterte is right on many levels and I do believe that he will make an amazing President but go about it the right way. A mass killing of people will instill fear from the entire world. I have friends who have stated they will no longer travel to the Philippines due to the issues that are being handled in such a violent way...what will that do to the tourism industry of the country? This will have a domino effect and I hope that it isn't cataclysmic to the point of disaster!

I want to say in no way am I politically inclined. I am an observer from the outside......I don't know what it would be like to sit there are make such strong decisions. I only know that I am scared to go back. I used to venture to the Philippines every year happily but now I'm not so sure....should I fear for my safety? What does the internet world think??? Maybe someone out of the 10 readers will voice their opinion....

I just have my big voice in a little space.....thanks for reading everyone :) xoxox
